There are 2 type of trade every trade work on one is short time trade and another is long time trade, also, in forex you can trade 1 min is the shortest candle and 1 month is longest candle. But normally short time to work is 5 min or 15 and long time is 1 hr , 4hr or a day.

I do prefer fro long term trading strategy, when I was a beginner here I trade frequently to make daily profit, although some day I made around 20% profit, because of this trading strategy and style, I forced my self to trade everyday like that and after 3 month I face huge loss. SO I preferred to trade with very low open quantity at a time and if I made profit in same day or short term basis then only I close the position or else I do average and get quick exit.

Long term trading is done by professional traders based on fundamental analysis and they place their trade and do not monitor trades for small movements here and there and they have fixed target for huge number of pips and place their trades with high lots.
