GBP/USD has tackled the 50 Simple Moving Average on the four-hour chart which coincides with the 1.2480 which was a swing low in early July – critical resistance. Further up, 1.2510 is where the 100 SMA meets the chart, and 1.2560 was a peak earlier this month.

Support awaits at 1.2440 which provided support in mid-July and also earlier this year. It is followed by the recent swing low of 1.2420 and by the 2019 low of 1.2380 recorded last week.

Downside momentum is waning and the Relative Strength Index is moving up – both positive signs. Nevertheless, the pair is capped by critical SMAs, as mentioned earlier.

How are you all doing this period? I hope fine and good. I decided to close all my trade positions to $26 with some minimal loss to recover as this is done to allow safety of bonus.

I still have bearish bias and sentiment the market but with the new prime minister of UK, Johnson Boris news then there should be some cushion effects on the this which is making it looks as if it's will move well.

100-hour EMA offers immediate support.
While more than a week old triangle formation limits the GBP/USD pair’s near-term moves, the quote recently bounced off the 100-hour exponential moving average (EMA) as it traders near 1.2480 heading into the UK open on Thursday.

Pair’s latest pullback enables it to question 61.8% Fibonacci retracement of mid-month declines, at 1.2504. However, a week old downward sloping trend-line at 1.2515 and the triangle resistance near 1.2536 could restrict further upside, if not then chances of the pair’s rally to early-month high surrounding 1.2580 can’t be denied.
On the downside break of 100-hour EMA, at 1.2475 now, prices can slump to formation support-line of 1.2435.

From a technical perspective, the pair's inability to capitalize on attempted positive moves suggest persistent selling bias at higher levels and support prospects for a further near-term depreciating move. A follow-through weakness below the 1.2420-15 region (weekly lows) will reinforce the bearish outlook, which might turn the pair vulnerable to break through the 1.2400 round figure mark and challenge yearly lows around the 1.2380 region. The downward momentum could further get extended towards testing support marked by the lower end of a five-month-old descending trend-channel, currently near the 1.2325 region.

On the flip side, the 1.2480-85 region now seems to act as immediate resistance and is closely followed by the 1.2500 handle. However, the 1.2520-25 supply zone remains a key barrier, which if cleared might assist the pair to aim towards testing the 1.2575-80 region ahead of the 1.2600 round figure mark.

The supportive candle of course slammed into the 1.62 handle, which course is a large round psychologically significant number. Nonetheless, I do recognize the fact that this pair has a certain amount of resistance all the way to the 1.63 handle, and it is a daily close above that level that I'm looking for in order to start buying.

If we do pullback in this general vicinity, I believe that it will simply be a buying opportunity. Ultimately, I fully expect see this market climb higher and break above the all-important 1.63 level.
