one year it is not a very long time for the forex market. in one year you will just learn the basic knowledge about the forex professional. but it depends, if you can give the hard labor in the forex market then one year is the sufficient time.

Forex is a lifetime learning..because it is not only novice who sometimes get loss..but professioanl also sometimes makes loss..
the different is profesional can minimize their risk,but novice cannot..

i think that its very hard to decide that whether you are a strong and successful trader or not within a year because a lot of traders who are in this field from past 5-6 years are still think that they are not perfect so its always upon the trader.

i think all depend on knowlegne and experience the trader. some trader can be success just learn on three month only, if we have teacher on trading more be fast to follow success.
