50 cent per pip is very high lot size .we should use money management in our trades if we want good return from forex market and if we are not using money management then our investment will be in risk .

I am personally in the favor to start with small amounts and minor capital but your capital should be a reasonable amount that may give you the chance to trade with ease. I think 20$ is not a sufficient capital and it should be at least 100$.
