Actually it depends on the present and future situation of forex market. Generally, you can set 100 pips for stop loss. But market seems to goes down, then make it 200 pips from 100 pips. And hop that it will be safe for you.
Using stop loss in a fixed point is not recommended. as in Dow theory said that 'average discounted everything', we can not limit and predict the price movement. with this, we can not also define a stop loss in a fixed point. The best choice method in defining stop loss is using support and or resistance level. this is only my opinion.
determining take profit and stop loss is a good thing if we will not use these 2 things there is alot of chances of loosing our money because market can goes everywhere and expereinced persons always uses sp and tpQuote:

Stop loss ek acha option hai jo kay hum apne account ko baray loss main lejanay se bachanay kay liye use kartay hain. Mere khayal se humain daily ke high aur low point se 3 pips up or down per stop loss insert karna behtar rahega.
Every trader has their own goals and targets and they trade accordingly and also their risk and profit percentage. I think it is better to trade on basis of your risk and reward ratio and mine is 3:1 which means I place trades for profits of 60 pips and stop loss of 20 pips .
i think only the 50 pips are the best for the stop loss and the 20 pips for the take profit will be better. i think in this way we will not lose our money and we will take profit always but only the some times loss
from my purpose of view i feel 50 pipes are principally and acceptable and get a sl.
i feel sl could be a means to actually minimize u r loss.
market is unmeasurable therefore sl happens to be the means by that we are able to minimize our loss and save from high loss.
i feel 50 pipes are sensible.
