Yes it is very true.People do the analysis by mainly two ways.technical and fundamental analysis.On technical analysis we use the past movement and patterns to predict the future movement of the market.The best example would be support and resistance.These lines are the area where the buyers and sellers gatters and fought for the control on market.And it is very strong line for future whether it will continue thrugh the line or it will bounce back.

you are very right brother. if we only know how to analyse the past movements of the market , what are the highest and lowest movements of the market in past few days or months then we can really make a guess about the future movement of the market and can put long term trades then. also listening to the news and press releases and finding their impact on the market , act can be really helpful.
