I believe the stop loss is an instrument provided for we traders to use so as to control and or minimize our losses. But some sense like me don't always use a stop loss, of which I know it is dangerous. I have received margin calls some times all because of this.

Indeed stop loss is a good defence but on the other hand it can be said as a good strategy also because in some cases we are not there in front of computer to analyse the price movments so in that case we can protect ourselves by using stop loss.

i often use hedging also as my stop loss, but actually the stop loss is more effective than hedging, because when one position in plus, we want to close the plus position and let the minus position keep open, and it often make our losess become larger than it must

I also think that, stoploss is easier in use. because if you use hedging, we should really be able to open and release the right position. that means we have to really understand the nature of market movements in advance. because if we are wrong in opening and removing the position, it could be that would make even our losses increasing. because it must have a good ability to use hedging.
