How long we can have a position open?

Actually it will depend on your trading strategy, it means which trading strategy you follow, short-term or long-term trade. If you choose a scalping strategy then you can close your trades in the short term or if you are a long term trader then you can trade with trend lines. and I think there is no time limit for open positions in forex trading, as long as you have a balance that can withstand minus for a long time. Investors can trade with open positions for months and if an open position has a deadline it will not do business there is a lot of forex.

Most of the time can determine how long we can open position, if it is a 5 minute time frame, you better sit to watch as your trade or if 15 times frame put together within 2 hours and make your money and close the position. but if it's an hour, it could take a very long time !! Most of the time when you keep your trades open for a long time with a trend then it is better to place a trailing stop loss so you will protect some of your profits and wait for more profits.

To trade this we work in this market with caution. There is no rule saying traders should let their trades open for a certain period of time.

A trader can keep their position open till the time they want depending on their trade and or risk : reward ratio .

It entirely depends on the trader if they want to close their trade at certain levels . However there are certain things which are beyond the control of a trader and even if they want their trade to keep running still they cant do the same and the most important factor of them is CAPITAL .
A trader needs to always make sure that they have enough capital in their account at all the times and if they have enough capital the trade will run or keep running always and until the time they decide to close their trade . So one must always keep their positions open for a longer period of times based on the capital there in the account .

Once the capital is in negative or there is margin call then the trade will close automatically .
