How long we can have a position open?

There is no problem with the positions kept open for days. You can keep your positions as long as you want or plan. But off-course you have to pay the swap fee by the end of trade day time to keep it for the next day. If you have a Swap-free account then you will not be charged the swap fee and you can keep your positions as long as you want without anything paying extra. Just remember that if you haven't put any limits then you may run out of your marginal limits and you will be swapped from trades.

the mostly the forex market will show you the false movements and the market may not be able to give you the good indication about the good tradings and you may lose the money in the market if you will not place the good orders so you need to close the position after short period of money.

it depends on broker but we are allow to have our position open as long as we want and as long as you have the account margin to sustain the position as the system will close our position if we should go beyond the allowed margin on account

I have already kept a position open for around a month and never faced any issue except my trade was charged some swap fee. But is there any time limit we can keep our trade, say can i keep my trade open for few years?

if we've got our profit on the position open, then we can cover that position, and can take the profit that we get in trading. trader must be able to take appropriate decisions in trading, and can be based on good analysis in accordance with the trading system it uses.
