Well you have a pointed out a very good question.since no body likes the market to move in opposite direction as it hurts and sometimes badly,there is not much you can do except a couple of things.1 wait for the market to reverse and move back towards the point you opened the trade.2 use hedging if you know how to but if you cant do either of the two things than better close the trade to avoid further loss of balance

I find that If you want to opentrade watch ,market carefully and then decided that whether to open trade or not and if by chance market moves in opposited as directions then hedges yours traded as if you think that market will bounce back and if not then use stop loss in your trade and take another chances !!!

I think that the best thing to do is to close the position and open another one in the opposite direction , you should use a stop loss all the time to avoid big losses and protect your capital.
