There are short term traders and there are long tern or position traders and they have different trading styles . Each trader choose the time frame accordingly and based on their technique of trading. Scalpers choose short time frames whereas position traders choose higher time frames to perform their trades .

Certainly that the MT4 na the Mt5 has many time frame.Time frame use depend on the trade and his/her trading stagey .short time frame as likes as an m5,m15 and m30 is not good for the trader.I think long time frame as like h1,h4,d1 and m1 is very effective time frames !!

I find that it depends on the particulars as a trading style of the traders. Personally I prefer to long trade and I always followed as a long times as a frames for the trading. I think this is safer than short trade. Most of the time I use H4 time frame for trading !!

I agree with you that long term trades or position trades are safer than short term trades as markets can move few pips here and there in short term but in longer term they follow a direction and it is important to trade in that direction for longer run. However one needs to do proper analysis for the same before they take their position .
