It's recommended to use it, since it has many variations that you can try, but the most advantage of using MA is it's easiness in setup. it only use periods to help you determine the trend movement. It's crossing strategy has many variation, you can search in google. But you must remember that too short period can give you fast signal but mostly is fake, while too long period can give you more accurate signal but sometimes .

all these indicators that you have just mentioned are all not worthy of wasting time on because they are all not good for anyone to use because if you use them then you will see that they are not good at all because when you trade them they will give you late signals most of the time so its not so good to rely on them at all.
