To me this is the paradox of trading, and the whole "discipline" question:

If I trade with mechanical system that gives at least a few trades per month, I can get at best maybe 60% win rate where reward = risk
If I trade discretionary system on historical data, I can get much better than that, maybe 75% win rate.

You can't beat the human element to give best results - but then the big problem, is that it is hard to keep the discipline.
For example, almost everyone does better in demo than in live account.

The question is, how to trade with freedom for best results, while maintaining discipline? This is the trick, but so very hard to do in real time.

Anyone have any thoughts/advice?

i absolutely agree with you that discipline of mind is the key to successful operation. forex is a mind business. so discipline of mind is very important to perform well in this forex business.
