it's depends upon which strategy you are using..this strategy will tell you which is best to put stop loss and which is good to take profit..analysis are much better to use for stop loss and take profit rather than putting sl blindly..

I think we determini stop loss because support and resistance and not depending on pips from our price open. If we using support and resistance as our target profits and our stop loss, we more know when market trend is going

using stop loss in teh trading is very essentail but setting it is not easy job at all , you need to learn the trick for setting the stop loss because unsetting the stop loss at proper point will lead you to suffer loss
