It depends on your capital, lot size and the amount of loss you can bear. If you are trading with low capital and bigger lot size then you should set SL around 15-20 pips so that you may not have to face heavy loss.

I think -50pips is big enough to set as SL, and if we open lot trading 0.1 lot size from $100 capital amount, we just lost 5% from our capital amount, it is safe trading method I guess, and it is good way to trade forex for beginners.
