Denmark has two of the oldest amusement parks in the world and one of them is right in the middle of the capital city. Since its opening in 1843, Tivoli Park has been greeted with joy by local residents and enjoyed by visitors to Copenhagen. More than just a theme park, Tivoli Park plays live music every day at its various venues and has some of the best restaurants in the city.
Tivoli Gardens receive more than 4 million visitors every year. It's a great family destination with attractions for all ages. Hop on one of the Tivoli Park roller coasters for a thrilling experience. The choices of rides at Tivoli range from roller coasters and traditional wooden carousels to modern renditions of classic entertainment. The Demon reaches speeds above 40 miles (70 kilometers) per hour. Enjoy incomparable views of the city from the top of Himmelskibet (StarFlyer), one of the world's tallest carousels. Stroll through the beautiful 8.5 hectares (21 acres) of gardens that join the gardens. At night, more than 100,000 specially designed lights illuminate the pathways and trees. Enjoy a dragon boat cruise on the lake in the middle of the park, or take a seat at the lakeside bars and restaurants. The most famous place for fine dining is Noma, which is internationally praised and renowned for innovative dishes based on traditional Nordic food.
Tivoli Gardens is in central Copenhagen and can be reached by bicycle or on foot from many city center hotels. The central train station is next door and some roadside parking is available in the area. Tivoli is open daily from April to September, but only during certain times in other months.
