Some of the uniqueness of Cappadocia :
- There is an underground city, this city was a place of refuge during the war. The underground cities include Derinkuyu, Kaymaklı, Karlik Church, Theodore Church, Karain Columbaries, and Soğanlı Archaeological Site.
- Badlands and sand make it difficult to grow crops in Cappadocia, so farmers use pigeon droppings to fertilize agricultural land because Cappadocia's plains are hot and dry. Every man who is physically capable is expected to dig his own hole as a pigeon house on a stone structure to avoid predators and thieves.
- In the local language Cappadocia is called Kapadokya which means country with beautiful horses or Land of Beautiful Horses
- The period when the war was still in turmoil, Cappadocia was made a place of refuge for Christians who avoided the attacks of the Arabs and gave the name of the city of Goreme which means "You can't see here".
- The Tokali Kilise Church, often called the Buckle Church, was used as the main center of protection for monastic activities in Buzantine Cappadocia. Until now the Church Building still stands in Cappadocia. Christian-themed paintings are often found in the caves which are the church chapels
