Ilulissat, comfortable and quiet a small town in Greenland, the locals are friendly. to travel around the city , you don't need to rent a car, you can enjoy this city by walking. there are taxi too if you don't like to walk. because at this time, it's going to be summer, the road is more barren, dusty and lots of mosquitoes.

For the weather in Greenland, especially in Ilulissat, the sun is hot, but cold, sometimes below 10C, sometimes around a dozen. sometimes the wind is very strong. The first experience for me is, 24 hours sun shines, meaning there is no night. sunset and sunrise occur at the same time.

There is no shopping in Greendland, no shaking bars, no cool entertainment. Greenland is nature, Greenland is synonymous with ice. food choices are also not much. Greenland is expensive and anti-mainstream. maybe, for some people.

WELCOME TO ILULISSAT

"Velkommen til Ilulissat!" Welcome to Ilulissat. There was an audio voice of the ship captain who suddenly filled the room. Although I was 4 hours late from the original estimate due to sea ice conditions the night before, I finally arrived at the city of my final destination.

Located in the West Greenland region, about 350 km north of the Arctic Circle, Ilulissat is the perfect place to enjoy the evening sun. Yes, the words "sun" and "night" are rarely juxtaposed together in a sentence. One is synonymous with bright light. Meanwhile, others refer to a dark atmosphere without light. But in areas that fall within the Arctic Circle zone or the Arctic Circle, the sun's presence at midnight is not something strange.

The evening sun or midnight sun is a term local residents call a natural phenomenon that occurs every summer when the sun shines for 24 hours. This is when the traditional concept of time loses its meaning and the day seems endless. Also in the city is the Ilulissat Icefjord, Greenland's first World Heritage Site filled with hundreds of iceberg faults from the Sermeq Kujalleq or the Jakkobshavn Glacier, one of the most active glaciers in the world.

Recent climate changes have made glaciers melt faster. Iceberg fractures with heights that can reach more than 100 meters above sea level flood the Disko Bay at the mouth of the glacier every year. Not surprisingly, this city got the name Ilulissat, which in Kalaallisut language itself means "iceberg". Kalaallisut is a language spoken by the people of Grendland apart from Danish and English.

Greenland has colorful houses that brighten up the landscape. One of them is Kulusuk Village which is located on a small coral island. This small village, which is the gateway to the east of Greenland, is unique with its houses painted in various bright colors, contrasting with the natural landscape around it which is white snow.
