The US dollar again witnessed some heavy selling on Wednesday and pushed the EUR/USD pair back to the 1.1900 mark, closer to YTD tops set last week. Investors continued dumping the greenback amid worries about the pace of the US economic recovery due to the country's poor performance in containing the coronavirus outbreak. The USD selloff intensified following the release of the ADP report, which showed that the US private-sector employment increased by only 167K in July. The reading missed market expectations by a big margin and was worse than the upwardly revised 4.314 million jobs created in June. With more than 30 million Americans already claiming unemployment benefits, the disappointing ADP report indicated that the labour market recovery was faltering.

Separately, the ISM Non-Manufacturing PMI unexpectedly rose to 58.1 in July as against consensus estimates pointing to a modest pullback to 55 from the 57.1 previous, albeit failed to provide any respite to the USD bulls. The USD was further pressured by the deadlock in the US Congress over the next round of fiscal stimulus measures. Both Republicans and Democrats harden their stances on the new coronavirus relief plan, raising doubts as to whether the lawmakers will reach an agreement before the end-of-week deadline. This coupled with a strong rally in the US equity markets further dented the greenback's relative safe-haven status and remained supportive of the pair's strong follow-through positive move for the second consecutive session on Wednesday.
