The metals market has been trading in the red even as global economic data shows a stronger recovery than previously expected. Gold traders remain focused on the December Federal Reserve meeting once again trying to our guess Mr. Bernanke, who will oversee his last meeting as Janet Yellen takes over the Chairmanship in January. Gold is trading at 1269.60 down about $2.00 this morning following Tuesday’s decline. Gold fell around 1.2 percent yesterday on the back of expectations that Federal Reserve will begin its QE tapering program sooner than estimated. Further, declining trend in SPDR gold holdings added downside pressure on prices. Gold prices are expected to continue the downtrend over weak physical and investment demand. US bond yields rose to two month high on tapering concerns which hurt the investment demand for gold as rising yields offer attractive returns over gold, which bears no interest rates. US mint silver yearly coin sales rise to record high, indicating stronger physical demand for silver over gold. A Fed official said on Tuesday that a possibility of stimulus withdrawal by Fed in December could not be ruled out completely.
