News) - Gold prices remain fairly volatile following better than expected sentiment in the service sector, according to the latest data from the Institute for Supply Management (ISM).
Friday, the ISM said its nonmanufacturing index showed a reading of 52.6% for March, down from February’s reading of 57.2%. However, the data was stronger than expected as economists were forecasting a drop into contraction territory to a reading of 43.5%.

The gold market continues to swing from gains to losses in reaction to the latest economic data, which many economists are now dismissing. June gold futures last traded at $1,637.70 an ounce, unchanged on the day.
