USD/JPY rose in Asia trying to enter the European trading session above the rate of 108.00, propped up by hopes of China- U.S. trade talk progress. U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping are due to meet at the June 28-29 G20 summit in Osaka. Investors are focusing on whether the two leaders can pave the way to resolve a trade dispute between the world’s two biggest economies. Demand for the safe- haven yen fell amid rising hopes that Trump and Xi will find a way forward to solve their trade disputes. In Japan, data in Asia showed that Retail Sales rose 1.2% in May, matching analysts’ expectations. In the US, a final reading on GDP for quarter one will be released at 13:30 GMT+1. At the same time, US weekly Initial Jobless Claims will be also released. US Pending Home Sales data for May will be released at 15:00 GMT+1.
