XAU/USD: Gold prices collapsed during today's opening trades and slipped through three estimated support price points at 1396.82, 1393.06, 1388.44 before it was supported at 1381.25. Gold prices currently attempt to break through 1388.44 resistance and needs to hold above 1388.44 to continue to its target at 1393.06. Failure to maintain above 1388.44 could push prices back down to 1381.25 support.
The US dollar Index advanced during today's opening trades and pushed through 95.798 resistance, a critical price point which held the dollar down for five consecutive trading sessions. The Index managed to break through its first estimated target at 95.966 and currently trades at 95.993. The Index needs to remain above 95.966 to continue to its next target at around 96.128. The Index could head back down to 95.798 if it fails at 95.966

The pair has sights on the 108.80's as an upside target while, to the downside, 107.50s are likely to give way on any risk-off bounce to open a run for the 106.80s. "We continue to look for losses to the 78.6% retracement at 105.87," analysts at Commerzbank said on such a bearish correction.

USD/JPY was stable in Europe, after it fell earlier in Asia below the rate of 107.70. Investors remained cautious on Friday as the G20 Summit in Japan has officially kicked- off on Friday, with all eyes to be laid on the upcoming meeting between US President Donald Trump and China President Xi Jinping early on Saturday (June 29). Earlier today, data in Japan showed that the Industrial Production rose 2.3% in May, exceeding analysts’ expectations for a rate of 0.7%. Later in the US, Core PCE and Personal Spending data for May will be released at 13:00 GMT+1. Michigan Consumer Sentiment for June will be released at 15:00 GMT+1.
