USD/JPY
On Thursday, the USD/JPY currency pair tried to surpass the resistance formed by the 55– and 100-hour SMAs, located circa 108.50. During today's morning, the rate was testing the support formed by the 200-hour SMA at 108.28.

Given, that the exchange rate is squeezed by the given moving averages, it is likely, that it could trade sideways in the nearest future.

On the other hand, if the given resistance does not hold, it is expected, that the rate could target the psychological level at 108.80.

It is unlikely, that bears could prevail in the market, and the pair could drop lower than the 108.00 mark due to the lower boundary of the short-term ascending channel.

The dollar is still suffering from strong resistance levels, after breaking the levels of the rising channel, so the selling areas are many, the first at 110.85 levels if the price below it would be an excellent sale of them, and the second at 111.40, with targets up to 110.00, The last level of support and close above it is buying the best.

The USD/JPY pair is trading in a tight range on Friday and struggles to set its next short-term direction as the rising US Treasury bond yields make it difficult for the JPY to find demand and take advantage of the broad USD weakness. Reflecting the neutral outlook, the pair stays flat on the weekly chart and was last seen trading at 108.30, losing 0.15% on the day.

After falling for eight straight weeks and slumping to its lowest level since November 2016 below the 2% mark last week, the 10-year US Treasury bond yield staged a strong recovery that started last Friday on the back of upbeat employment figures and rose nearly 9% since then, weighing on the traditional safe-haven assets such as the JPY.
