For learning purposes real is always better but demo can be used to test strategies and test certain EAs and robots. And there is no hard and fast rule for using demo. And i had spent less then an hour trading in demo since i have started trading

start with demo helps u to realize how trading done..but if u really want to learn trading then starts with cent account..coz its need low capital and it has low risk ..cent account is best for newbie..

yes some how I agree with you and this is not suitable for every one but some people really feel that they can get excitement with no lose or gain in demo so maybe it is better for them to do it with small amount and yes in this way they will learn because those people can not trade in demo and they always gamble in demo and you may not earn by gambling.
