    A Review On Aston Villa

For today's English league fans, club names such as Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City will definitely become idols. The majority will definitely champion one of the five teams. Historical factors, achievements, and quality are the reasons. Even so, never forget other traditional clubs like Aston Villa. Currently the club nicknamed The Villans is not included in the top club of Queen Elizabeth's country. They are just a team that often struggles in the middle of the English league.

Historically, Aston Villa is one of the oldest clubs in England, they were founded in 1874 or four years before Everton was born. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries Aston Villa was a strong club in England. The achievement of league and FA Cup trophies was no stranger to Aston Villa at that time. Before the first world war, they had won 6 English league titles. It can be said that at this time, Aston Villa is one of the most successful clubs in England, they have seven league titles, seven FA Cup trophies, five league titles and one big ear trophy.

Aston Villa is one of the five English clubs to have won the title in prestigious European club competitions. Apart from of course Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest. The big ear trophy that Aston Villa got occurred in the early 1980s or to be precise in the 1981/82 season. In the 70s to early 80s it was the heyday of Aston Villa again after the early 20th century. Even though in the early 1970s, The Villans had occupied the third division competition, but slowly they moved up caste to the second division in the 1971/72 season.

In 1974, former Manchester City coach Ron Sounders was appointed to take charge of the team. His first job was simple: to return Villa to what they believed was their rightful place, the First Division. Together with Ron Saunders, Villa immediately won the league Cup in 1974/75 after defeating fellow team from the second division, Norwich City. It only took one year after taking office, Saunders was able to return Aston Villa back to the top caste of the English league. With Villa back at the top tier of England, Saunders is determined to build a team that can not only survive in the league but also compete at the top. In addition, in that season, Villa also appeared in the UEFA Cup. they featured in the UEFA cup after winning the league cup in the previous season. However, Villa had to be eliminated in the first half by the Belgian club, Antwerp.

The following season, namely 1976/77 Aston Villa finished the season in fourth place, only six points away from the champions, Liverpool. Their striker, Andy Gray came out as the league's top scorer with 25 goals. Aston Villa's slick performance in that season was at its peak when reaching the league cup after three matches with Everton in the final.
