A Review on New Delhi, India

Delhi known as the National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCT), is a city and a union territory of India containing New Delhi, the capital of India.[14][15] It is bordered by the state of Haryana on three sides and by Uttar Pradesh to the east. The NCT covers an area of 1,484 square kilometres (573 sq mi). According to the 2011 census, Delhi's city proper population was over 11 million, the second-highest in India after Mumbai, while the whole NCT's population was about 16.8 million.Delhi's urban area is now considered to extend beyond the NCT boundaries, and include the neighbouring satellite cities of Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gurgaon and Noida in an area called the National Capital Region (NCR) and had an estimated 2016 population of over 26 million people,

    Tourist Destinations

    1. The Red Fort
The beautiful Red Fort was built by Shah Jahan in 1648 and served as the seat of Mughal power until 1857. This stunning structure, with its tall, red sandstone walls covers an area of more than two square kilometers, the entirety of which is crescent shaped and surrounded by a moat.

    2. Qutub Minar
Completed in the 12th century, the beautiful Qutub Minar-India's tallest minaret and now a UNESCO Word Heritage Site-attracts many international visitors eager to climb to the top for its breathtaking views of the surrounding area. This ornate five-story tower rises more than 70 meters and is covered with intricate carvings featuring the history of Qutub along with inscriptions from the Koran

    3. Gurudwara Bangla Sahib
Delhi's most important Sikh place of worship, the 18th-century Gurdwara Bangla Sahib is near Connaught Place and is well worth a visit. Highlights include its magnificent pool, the Sarovar, at the heart of this large complex, as well as its famous gold dome and flagpole.

    4. The Lotus Temple
The magnificent Bahá'í House of Worship, also known as the Lotus Temple due to its nine sides and stunning central dome, is an architectural masterpiece. Constructed of white concrete and marble, the entire structure looks as delicate as the flower it resembles. Rising from the surrounding nine pools of water, it almost appears as if it might burst into bloom at any moment. Built in 1986, the temple has since attracted more than 70 million visitors, making it one of the world's most visited

    5. India Gate
Looking a little like the famous Arc de Triomphe in Paris, the equally impressive India Gate is a magnificent stone arch built as a memorial to Indian soldiers killed in WWI. An eternal flame burns beneath the massive structure, and its walls are inscribed with the names of more than 90,000 soldiers who died in the conflict.

    6. Jamia Masjid
The Jamia Masjid is one of India's largest mosques and was the final architectural feat of Shah Jahan. Completed in 1658, this beautiful structure features three gateways, four angled towers, and two 40-meter-high minarets built using red sandstone and white marble and attractively alternated in vertical stripes.

    7. Humayun's Tomb
Set in a lovely, large square garden, Humayun's Tomb is a lofty mausoleum constructed of white marble and red sandstone. It was designed as a prototype of the Taj Mahal in Agra and is an excellent example of Mughal architecture

    8. Akshardham
Although only recently completed (it opened in 2007), the splendid Hindu Akshardham temple looks like it could be centuries old. Festooned with intricate and elaborate carvings, this magnificent building attracts countless visitors for its majestic beauty.

    9. Purana Qila (The Old Fort)
Although often overlooked, as most tourists head straight for the more famous Red Fort, Purana Qila (Old Fort) is well-worth squeezing into your Delhi travel itinerary. Boasting a past that stretches back some 2,500 years, much of the current impressive edifice dates back to the 1500s, although evidence of earlier structures dating back to the 3rdcentury have been discovered.

    10. Rajpath and Rashtrapati Bhavan
Rajpath, also known as the King's Way, is New Delhi's traditional ceremonial boulevard. Running from Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official presidential residence, past such important city landmarks as Vijay Chowk and India Gate all the way to the National Stadium, this broad avenue is flanked by trees, grass, and ponds and comes alive each January 26th during the Republic Day Parade, when countless thousands gather to celebrate the anniversary of the country's independence.

    New Delhi, India

Delhi, city and*national capital territory, north-central*India. The city of Delhi actually consists of two components: Old Delhi, in the north, the historic city; and*New Delhi, in the south, since 1947 the capital of India, built in the first part of the 20th century as the capital of British India.

    City layout
The city plan of Delhi is a mixture of old and new road patterns. The street network of Old Delhi reflects the defense needs of an earlier era, with a few transverse streets leading from one major gate to another. Occasionally a street from a subsidiary gate leads directly to the main axes, but most Old Delhi streets tend to be irregular in direction, length, and width. Narrow and winding paths, culs-de-sac, alleys, and byways form an intricate matrix that renders much of Old Delhi accessible only to pedestrian traffic

    Sports
The city hosted the*2010 Commonwealth Games*and annually hosts*Delhi Half Marathon*foot-race. The city has previously hosted the*1951 Asian Games*and the*1982 Asian Games. New Delhi was interested*in bidding for the*2019 Asian Games*but was turned down by the government on 2 August 2010 amid allegations of corruption in 2010 Commonwealth Games

    Railway
New Delhi is a major junction in the Indian railway network and is the headquarters of the*Northern Railway. The five main railway stations are*New Delhi railway station,*Old Delhi,*Nizamuddin Railway Station,*Anand Vihar Railway Terminal*and*Sarai Rohilla. The*Delhi Metro, a mass rapid transit system built and operated by*Delhi Metro Rail Corporation*(DMRC), serves many parts of Delhi and the neighbouring cities*Faridabad,*Ghaziabad,*Gurgaon*and*Noida. As of December 2016, the metro consists of six operational lines with a total length of 213*km (132*mi) and*160 stations. Several other lines are under construction and expected to be commissioned in 2017 adding another 150*km length.[98]*It carries almost three million passengers every day.

New Delhi is one of the largest cities in India. This city is also the capital of India itself. The typical view of the capital city is indeed quite dense, where the hustle and bustle of vehicles passing by clashing with each other using vehicle horns. Such a situation seems to be characteristic in India, including in the city of New Delhi itself. What makes it interesting is that the heavy traffic with horns blaring each other does not seem to be a sign of traffic jams, but the flow of traffic that runs precisely smoothly even though it is a bit irregular. With a population of more than 10 million people, New Delhi is still a charming city for you to visit with all the uniqueness and historical heritage that is in it. Although the traffic is not neatly organized in various modern countries, in terms of transportation it seems that New Delhi is not out of date. New Delhi is one example of cities in Asia with modern mass transportation systems, such as metro trains and city buses. But one of the special characteristics of the transportation of New Delhi, India is the Bajaj.

Did you know that Bajaj is indeed a means of transportation or public transportation originating from India. So, if you visit New Delhi, then you have the opportunity to try to ride the Bajaj in your home country. The payment system that is used also resembles a taxi in Indonesia by using a taximeter from morning to 18:00, while for the evening, passengers will usually make a little bargaining with the driver. In addition, the view on the sidewalks of the city of New Delhi also presents its own views, such as a row of street vendors, stalls and people passing by to their respective destinations. Apart from all that, New Delhi, India is also known for its various unique and interesting tourist destinations to visit.

Red Fort is a historical fort in New Delhi. This place was the main residence of the Emperor of the Mughal dynasty for approximately 200 years, until 1857. Red Fort is located in the center of New Delhi and there are several museums.
The Red Fort was built in 1639 by the fifth Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as the capital palace of his fortress Shahjahanabad, Red Fort is named for its sculptural walls lined with red sandstone and adjoining the older Salimgarh Fort, built by Islam Shah Suri in 1546.
Every year on India's independence day (15 August), the Prime Minister flies the Indian “Tricolor” flag at the main gate of the Red Fort and delivers a nationally broadcast speech. Red Fort was also designated a UNESCO world heritage site in 2007 as part of the Red Fort Complex.
