Bukit Lawang is a natural tourist spot in the Bahorok sub-district, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra Province. The place is famous for its swift and clear river currents and the Sumatran orangutan observation spot in the semi-wild protected forest area of Gunung Leuser National Park. The Sumatran Orangutan (Pongo abelii) is one of the two species of orangutan in Indonesia and can only be found on the island of Sumatra.
