Yes obviously its important.SMA 200 help to find out strong trend.You use this any type of time frame.If price below the SMA 200 it is pure down trend and if above the SMA 200 its up trend.

The thread starter 200 day moving average strategy is unbelievable ,because moving average do work in any pair not only in gbp/usd and it has the same mechanism in all the pair.May be the thread starter specialize in trading only said pair and have not tested other pairs with moving average.He do not even mention the type of moving average he use,either simple moving average of exponential moving average

i believe, I use H4 charts to trade and always use SMA 200 to name the trend.200 SMA gives you a really overhaul identification of trend as it calculates heaving average of determinative prices of finally 200 periods that's why relying on it can pay wagerer and advisable results. But do not use it unaccompanied , i use polychromatic MACD as a filtrate with 200 SMA to set the trend.
