It depends on the type of instrument you are trying to trade and some brokers prefer to charge commission on cfd and then spread on currency pairs but the spread and commission are the same and i am ok with any of them as long as the spread and commission are not too high

the two are okay but what makes those charging commission to be better than those charging spread is that commission is always static but in spread we could have a fixed spread and we could also have floating spread and these floating spread are not good at all because they always widen when it comes to the time of news data which is not some thing that is good at all .

Well i mainly use the instaforex broker to trade the forex trading markets and they do not collect commissions, they only collect spreads. Instaforex spreads are best in my own opinion because it is fixed.
