I do prefer to go with short term, but daily research basis rather than scalping. As I have trading strategies which support only day long entry and exit levels. I believe long term positional trading could be done only by most experienced professional traders. Being a beginner I just dream about long term trading as now now, but preparing for it
There is a diference between those types of traders, So I am a short term trader and I use 15min, 1h and 4h in analyzing chart. I think If you want trade in a long term you must have a long experience and big amount of investment.
To talk about the long or short time trading, I mean the traders who actually like to do, the two types of trading has some variation of both deposit and skill of trading, if you decided to take a short trade may you can give low time for trading and your outcome may be lower. generally the professional trader can have the long postilion of trading.
Long term investments usually remains tension free as small ups and downs make no difference in long term appreciation, further while you trade long term you either eliinate the risk factor or limit it to a great extent.
Both the tradings have their own benifits . I prefer that students or beginners should do short term trading which are easy to be handled by a beginner and an experienced trader should do long term tradings as he has the experience to handle the tricks of long term tradings .
Long term trading has its advantages in the sense that we would be able to spend lesser time in front of our system, and also, we would be able to avoid some higher risks that are present in short term forex trading since our trading chart would mainly be the use of higher time frames.
I always change long-term goal, but my emotions close the trading scheme, which provides for long, it becomes a short-term operation, you need a lot of patience to go in the long run.

in my opinion , i prefer the short term trading in the Forex market because it provides the traders with the quick profits but the long term trade requires more days and weeks to reach to the target and it might not reach to what they have wanted
