dear when i come in trade then my senior says do not do always greedy . greedy this is a BIG word in forex in forex pips is also a big word . i know just 10 to 15 pips this is normal and when u see your tade is good or bad u just stop and do get profit . in forex u must thing pips is good and u just see 15 not need to more , after 15 u see your capitlal if u have good capital then u r very happy ,
i feel 5 pips simple right that should be save for stop loss. other then, typically i used ten pips for stop loss. i do this, as soon as the chance is is high for earning. really most of one's time i take advantage of 5 pips stop loss.
well in my strategy i dont set sl in the basis of pips.i set up stop loss in the basis of how much money i lose on that trade.i only risk 2.5% in my per trade.i keep my sl according to my risk.
Stop loss calculation is not like that, that should be where market is getting support and where should market getting resistance these prices are most important to calculate stop loss or take profit orders. If we buy our stop loss should be below 10 pips of its support levels and if we sell our stop loss order should be above of 10 pips from resistance level. This is the way we have to calculate stop loss or take profit levels. Not for this much pips.

I think it depends on your system of trading , It is more safer than if we just simply setup our stop loss with some fixed number like 20pips, 30pips or 50pips. I am always put my stop loss using H4 time frame with candlestik pattern analysis.

For me can only say that it all depend on your risk reward ratio and also it also depend on the kind of traders you are, some traders are scalper that only aimed at the smallers as a profite so there stop loss will be smallers realy !!
