both long and short term trading are profitable you just have to choose which one you are comfortable trading, for instance some traders enjoy working daily as such long term trading will be boring for such traders.

Everybody has its own needs, own strategies, goals and interface so one can work on whatever he/she want to. Trading long term gives you less stress and less risky and less frequent opportunities and for working professionals it is the best way to make money. But if you want to trade daily and have all the time in hands then you can easily scalp couple of trades a day to get more returns but chances of losses would be as same as chance of winning.

A short term trading opportunity works good for me since i get to cash in more quicker than long term, i only trade when there is a good chance for me to trade profitably but if there is no chance in short term that i trust and there is one in the long term then i take it without hesitation but generally i would prefer to trade short rather than long simply because of the time factor or time difference it will take to get paid, the shorter the time period the better.

I think that the answer for your question depends on your trading style and your capital but for me I prefer to trade scalping on the short time because I don't have a big capital and I don't like to stay inside the market for a long time.

pehle din ek na samajh bacche ki tarah eur usd ka ek order diya tha. aur pehle din me .5 volume pe trade kiya tha. jisme maine 4$ ka profit ki thi. par uske baad dusre ek order me 6$ loss ki. uske baad maine usdin trade nehi ki.
