The Pound Sterling to New Zealand Dollar (GBP/NZD) exchange rate stumbled on Thursday in the wake of comments made by Bank of England (BoE) Governor Mark Carney.
Markets were caught off guard by the less optimistic nature of Carney’s comments, exposing the Pound to a fresh slump against many of the majors.
As Carney warned that economic growth may not rebound in spite of the recent improvement in domestic business confidence this dragged GBP exchange rates lower across the board.
GBP/NZD is the abbreviation for the British Pound and New Zealand Dollar pair. It shows how much the GBP (base currency) is worth as measured against the NZD (counter currency). For example, GBP/NZD = 1.7764 indicates that one British Pound can buy 1.7764 New Zealand Dollars.
