I think newbies should start with a single pair. And it should be relatively stable pair like usdjpy, usdnzd etc. Newbies should not start with more than one pair.

EUR/USD is the best pair for beginners. I had also started with this pair. I like its low spread and its movement is according to analysis most of the time. I think this is the most traded pair in the forex market.
Newbie should trade with the main pair at the beginning. Eur/Usd would be the first preference. They can start with GBP/USD pair.
I think both are reliable for the beginners.

for beginner, EUR/USD is the best. do not trade on GBP/USD. its movement is too uncertain. this is also risky. if you tarde in this pair then try to trade in USD/CHF. this is just the opposite of EUR/USD.
