I spend more than six months before i join in live account. But fact is that, I am still trading in demo to develop my skills and try to learn something from the demo trading till now.
How much time you will practice in demo trading it is not specific. I think you should try to practice as much as possible it is similar to real trading so if you can do well in demo trading i am sure you will be able to do trade successfully in real account. So emphasis on practicing demo account is very necessary.
The time spent on the demo account for learning is need to be qualitative not quantitative in nature, only then the result of the effort will be fruitful. So we should evaluate our trades in the demo account every now and then and correct what needs to be and learn what is required and improve. This makes us to become profitable quickly and then can jump start real trading.
it is a very nice question my advice is before demo account trading to read several forex a books and study on some strategies and for example choose one strategy and always follow it for at least one month on demo account and please writhe down the wins and looses and analysis it if it is a working strategy
you should go for demo just for save your money and learn forex keep in mind when you able to make profit more then you lose then go for live account
I think we should spend in demo before going to live trading is minimum 3 to 4 months.After learning about Forex ,this knowledge apply to the trading platform in a demo account and will become matured then should be trade live account.
