I want to share a new trading strategy that i have used since January 2012.
This strategy uses gaps that happen every Monday when the market is open.
I give my strategy with name "Gap Strategy".

The rules of this strategy :

Open buy if the Monday's open price below the Friday's close price.
Open sell if the Monday's open price above the Friday's close price.
Set TP at Friday's close price depends the size of gaps :

:) Gap's size less than 40, set TP 100%
:) Gap's size between 40 and 60, set TP 75%
:) Gap's size greater than 60, set TP 50%

- Friday's close price at 1.2248
- Monday's open price at 1.2267
Monday's open price is above Friday's close price, open sell with TP 100% at 1.2248 (because the size of gap is 1.2267 - 1.2248 = 19 pips)


OK, let's see gap strategy in July 9th, at pair EUR/USD
- Friday's close price at 1.2286
- Monday's open price at 1.2264
Monday's open price is below Friday's close price, open buy with TP 100% at 1.2286 (because the size of gap is 1.2286 - 1.2264 = 22 pips)

i love the strategy. It is almost flawless. I have traded forex for on and off years now but i just discovered this for myself just this monday. It works very well. u never can tell the extent/limit of forex trading. There loopholes through which to make money. Pls can u elaborate on stop loss settin for this strategy?

i love this too. for almost 7 months, i always use this strategy to get profit on monday.
with the confidence, i believe the market usually close the gaps happen when the market opens. i don't use stoploss but i always prepare 100-200 balance for each order

thanks. i really have used this strategy for 7 months and while i used the gap technique, i can get big profit.
although once a week, my profit can be same with my another strategy. ok, try it and you will be surprised with the profit.

Thanks for the post and the information. I think that the strategy that you posted can work in some situations. However it is dangerous if you do not use a stop loss and assume that it will be effective every time. You can lose a lot of your account if you do not cut wrong trades quickly.

Time: Opening of exchange on Monday morning (5 am GMT)

Of closing the gap that occurred Saturday morning with the opening forex forex will be closed on Monday morning traveling market in the future (can be in the same day, next day, two more days, or even a week)
OP rules:

Attach buy if the price of the opening Monday morning at the closing price of Saturday morning. Gap's down, buy a TP pairs in Saturday morning's closing price

Attach sell if the price of the opening Monday morning at the closing price of Saturday morning. Gap at the top, plug the TP sell at the closing price of Saturday morning

Examples of gaps that occur in pairs EU February 6, 2012
The closing price of 1.3157
The opening price of 1.3114
Buy 1.3157 TP pairs with

gap occurs on monday because the transaction of buying or selling don't stop, there are many people exchange their money at weekend, there are news that make gap when the market opens.
we can use this gap to get benefit and profit in market. you can try it on demo account..

I also observed this because the market always moveback to close the gap before it continue its original trend. Your strategy is somehow good

i myself always use this strategy only on monday, when the market open at 00.00..
another days, i use another strategy, although only on monday i can make profit greater tuesday - friday.

1 years 52 x trading, only 1 loss... it means 51/52 = ... ?? it's our moment to get profit.. prove it..

it's good for us to make profit with gap trading... i don't use SL in my orders, but i always prepare 100-200 pips for each orders so that if the price against the close price or floating, i can combine it with averaging or martiangle.. try it on real acoount if you're sure with my strategy.

Hello Everyone, I've been using a different way to deal with GAPs. Instead opening pending orders, I wait for the market opening time. According the size of the GAP ( should be greater than at least 6 times the difference between OPEN and CLOSE PRICES of the previous session), I decide to open a position in the opposite direction and setting the TP with the CLOSE PRICE of the previous session. Ej.: If the GAP is valid, and OPEN PRICE is greater than CLOSE PRICE of previous session, I open a SELL position. Trading EUR/USD AUD/USD and USD/CHF, I've been obtaining good results. I know my method is very primitive and plenty of risks too, but it has been working fine for me until now. I hope it could be useful for somebody. Thanks.

Yesterday, the market is going down, pair against USD going down..
Next monday at the forex opening, we will see gaps in several pairs..
I will wake up at 00.00 when forex opens.. and then i will open order (buy or sell) according to the gaps..

yes it right.lets we tried this strategy in the morning when the market was opened and still be accurate if the target pips are obtained, because I think the price will bounce normally used when the price moves in the opposite direction of the gap

I like the strategy. There is almost flawless. I traded forex on and off for years now, but I just found this for me just this Monday. i use this techique yesterday, i opened orders at 7 pairs, audusd, gbpusd, nzdusd, eurusd, usdchf, eurjpy and usdcad
three pairs have closed the gaps : au, gu and nu..
and the others will close the gaps today or tomorrow, noone knows, but the price will close the gaps...

Well.. this strategy only effective in Monday morning.. You can try tracking, I can't see any gap in other days.. You can use fantastic four or other strategy but not gap strategy. :) or you can try gap in big holiday..

good to know before burning the hands that newbies are not advised to try gap strategy and explaning the way it happens -- friday and monday the closing and opening of prices. we only see the size of gap on monday morning. if there is a small gap, or medium gap, or big gap.. we must open order with take profit diferent of the gap size.. you may use the gap to take profit in forex.. don't worry, the price will go back to the close price on friday.. that's all.. not difficult.

i always prepare 200 pips for my orders.. so that if the price against the friday's close price, we don't worry, the price will be back to close price..
if the price have reached 200 pip, i will cut loss.
from januari 2012 until august 2012, only 1x loss. compare with the profit, i always get big profit...

there won't be just one trade per day, you can OP in some pairs, there will be more than one trade.

I don't see any danger in this strategy, the gap is always close, feel free when to cut loss, you can choose between 100 to 200 pips

Thanks for the post as well as the facts. I do think that this strategy that you just put up can work in a number of scenarios. But it really can be unsafe should you not utilize a cease damage and also believe that it's going to work whenever. You'll be able to eliminate a great deal of your account should you not slice faulty positions quickly.
We just need to calculate our margin, nothing more :)

why are you sad ?? yesterday, EURUSD don't have a gap... it is only 1 pip..

but don't be sad.. you can make profit with pair GBPUSD, NZDUSD, AUDUSD, EURJPY, USDCAD..

Though it is slow, as there is a gap of two days between it. But if this strategy really works, then there is no problem in trying this in demo account. As i see, gap not occurs with only one currency, it occurs with many. So why not making the whole week profit on Monday, trading the gap strategy on different currencies simultaneously.

i usually use insta broker and i like to use insta because the spread of monday morning of the pair is fixed and not changed same as with another days. i recommend you to use insta, but another broker is not problem.. you still use this gap strategy to get profit.

yes you're right, the pending orders will be shifted by broker..
sometimes in another brokers, our pending orders will be deleted or wasn't executed, sometimes the spread will be bigger than another day.
