Your question is actually linked with the currency pair you trade with. the time frame one used will depend on the trading strategy one used. for scalping small time frame like m5 or m15 is good. for day trading it is good to used m30 or h1 time frame where we will get only few signal a day. for long term trade like weekly or more we can used h4. in h4 we will get very strong trend to follow at least 3 to 4 days or one to two weeks. here we have to wait but the profit also big here and some what definite.

As I prefer 1H ... I would clearly declare it the best time frame. I think any time frame lower than 1H would be faster than what a forex can easily tackle. And still fast enough than the larger time frames to get away with profit on daily basis.
