The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc., is an American multinational investment bank and financial services company headquartered in New York City. It offers services in investment management, securities, asset management, prime brokerage, and securities underwriting.

The company goes nuts about data privacy, security, blah blah. Cross team interactions are therefore not encouraged and may also be prohibited. If you have ever been part of the open-culture of a core tech company, you might find this suffocating to say the least.

Huge disparity in pays. My friend has painfully learnt that he is not earning as high as his peers even though he works at the same level. Company is not interested in taking efforts to bridge the pay-scale gap. So negotiate your offer well before taking up the job.

Managers may not be technically sound. You may end up spending hours deciding upon a solution, only to find your manager tweaking the problem statement later to only find your solution no more valid (this is not a GS specific issue!)

He was in a core Tech company before GS. But the nature of his work worries him if he can make a switch to a pure Tech company in the future. He claims his data structures, algo, programming skills are not being used the way he would have wanted (Can be a team-specific issue)!
