Review on Honda CB250F - Price: PKR 640,000 - USD $3796

Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announced the August 1 (Fri), release of the 250cc new Road Sport Model "CB250F".

The CB250F was developed with the goal to allow an easy experience of the joy and fun of motorcycling. With its strongly dynamic “naked” style, and the single-cylinder engine that has amazing output force and response, it is very much so the manifestation of the new development concept “New Light Single Naked”.

Its styling is made to display the “Street fighter style”, in which it is refined to appear as a muscular athlete. Not only do the V-shaped headlight and the sharp front cowl make the front look dauntless, the use of the shroud and the under cowl gives a light and speedy impression.

The CB250F is powered by the 4-stroke DOHC 4-valve sing-cylinder 250cc engine, which was also used in the “CBR250R” model and received many praises for its good response and excellence in fuel efficiency and output force. No matter in medium or low speed ranges it is easily controllable, and even at high speed ranges it provides a relaxed feeling. Moreover, it holds a good fuel efficiency of 50.1km/L in the 60km/h steady-state test.

As it is formed with the truss-structured diamond type frame, it carries flexibility that makes riding feel easier and safer. The front is equipped with telescopic type suspension, and the rear with a Pro-link that includes a 5-step pre-load adjuster. Its dedicated CB250F handles, followed by the upright riding position is designed to make riding easy even in urban areas.

A digital meter is used for the liquid-crystal display of the tachometer, fuel gauge, time, and other information for advanced visibility.

The choice of colors (applies for the ABS type too) includes the dauntless black, and the aggressive millennium red.

The latest incarnation, launched in 1992, represented the swansong for a motorcycle with a history going back to the 1970s. Trusted, reliable and entirely without pretence, the Honda CB250 is a cracking little motorcycle that’s given long service to bikers everywhere.

Ride and Quality Brakes:
The Honda CB250 is very basic but honest and competent, nonetheless. The suspension’s adequate, ditto the disc/drum combo braking system. The gearbox is typically crunchy, and the gear lever’s a bit small for chunky motorcycle boots, whilst the clutch lacks absolute precision. A doddle to ride, though, and the handling’s not bad either. Light and turns easily, the Honda CB250 is also very forgiving of little mistakes.

Engine:
The Honda CB250's engine began its life in the old 250 Superdreams of the 1970s. Despite it’s modest power and torque figures, it performs its duties without complaint, unless you thrash it, of course. There’s plenty of go for town riding; aim for the top speed, though, and the Honda CB250 will soon start to complain

Reliability & build quality:
Unquestionable. Thirty years on the go enough for you? The Honda CB250 may not be flash but it’s a honest and well built motorcycle, just getting on with the job without glamour or glitz or loads of modern gadgetry, so what little does go wrong is easily fixed. Used motorcycles may well be ex-learner models: treat with caution although Honda CB250s can take a good battering without too much fall out.

Value vs rivals:
The Honda CB250 is excellent value. Cheaper alternatives may be available but the Honda CB250's staying power means you don’t have to ditch it along with the L plates. Loads of Honda CB250s were used for daily commutes. Insurance is dirt cheap and the fuel economy is phenomenal. Easy to work on, too, saving garage bills.
