I visited Lucerne as part of a tour organised by Treyn Holidays. We had about 5 hours free time in Lucerne. The weather unfortunately was overcast and therefore a visit to Mount Pilatus or Rigi was not possible and instead I, and others, took one of the regular service boats for a 2 hour trip around the lake calling at various stops, the furthest being Stansstad. The boat ride was smooth, the hot chocolate CHF 4.20 excellent and the boat Mount Pilatus was clean and comfortable. Afterwards I walked over the Chapel Bridge a must and meandered through the old town.

I have been to Lucerne three times and am never bored with the visit. The people are friendly and it is easy to strike up a conversation. I recommend Lucerne to all my friends.

You will be very sorry when you visit Lucerne but miss the climb to Mount Pilatus. This means that you miss the opportunity to witness the stunning view of the peak of Mount Pilate. At first you can take a boat from the shores of Lake Lucerne to Alpnachstad for about an hour and a half. Then the journey continues with the steepest cogwheel to go straight to the top of Pilate which has an altitude of about two thousand meters above sea level.
Even though you have to travel quite a bit, you won't feel it because the scenery around you is much more eye-catching. After exploring Mount Pilatus, please get back down using the cable car and gondola then continue by taking the bus to return to the city.

Mount Titlis is one of the must-visit destinations when on holiday to Switzerland. The mountain is more than 3000 meters high and its peak is always covered with snow all year round. Make travelers who come from tropical countries, really like this place.
To reach Mount Titlis is not difficult. If we stay overnight at Zurich, we can take a bus to Lucerne with a distance of approximately two hours. Then walk to the Central Luzern station which is approximately 100 meters away. After that, you can order a train ticket to and from Engelberg for 25 euros.

1 Mt. Pilatus
While in Lucerne, it would be a shame to miss the trip up Mount Pilatus, going up by the cableway from Kriens and down by the cog-railroad. The half-hour ride from Kriens leads to another short cable car ride to the 2,070-meter Pilatus-Kulm. From here, it is a six-to-10-minute climb to the summit of the Esel - the central (but not highest) peak of Pilatus with magnificent views of the Alps.
