I had heard a lot about Marrakech, most of it good. However the reality was quite different.
Culturally it was an interesting departure
but once you got past the initial surprise all that might remind you was fairly negative.
Perhaps I expected the hustle, bustle and general chaos, but the stench of many areas,
the constant problems with getting change from a payment for a transaction and
the almost universal "the machine is broken" for credit cards were not offset by a the positives.

we had dinner at a typical Marrakech restaurant next to the hotel. we visited Jardin Majorelle (Majorelle Gardens), this garden was taken over by Yves Saint Laurent, ticket 30 Dirham. Beautiful garden with lots of cactus plants and one corner of the garden planted with lush bamboo trees, once again contrast with the outside which arid and hot.
we visited Djemaa El-Fna (Traditional market), here are restaurants, shops, in the middle of the market, there are many snake attractions, drug seller, prize games, souvenir shop, orange juice seller which only in 3 dirham price. but watch out for those who have sensitive stomachs, my husband got diarrhea quite badly because of drinking that orange juice.
Late afternoon, this market is filled with sea food sellers. don't forget to try Moroccan food, very delicious especially steamed beef with dates, olives, raisins

One thing that every tourist who has to do in Marrakech should do is stay in a "riad". Actually, the riad is a traditional Moroccan palace that is a magnificent room located in the middle of a large courtyard. That's why this building is called "riad" which means "garden" in Arabic.
The riad was built with 2 purposes: protect them from weather changes and keeping them stay cool during very hot days, and also provides privacy. Each riad has a different design and style. if you want to know how it feels to live like a Moroccan, the most ideal thing to do is stay at the riad. this is a very interesting experience in your life

Le Jardin de la Menara or called Menara Gardens is located in Ain Mezouar, not far from the Koutoubia Mosque. The ancient building is increasingly special with a large pool surrounded by olive groves.Entering Le Jardin de la Tower we will immediately be treated to a plaza that leads to a building with a green pyramid-shaped roof, like a tower but not high. From some references the building was built in the 16th century by the Saady Dynasty. Then it was renovated by Sultan Abderrahmane as a summer residence. The large lake right in front of the building makes Le Jardin de la Menara even more interesting .

Tourist Destinations
1. Medina Souks
For many visitors, Marrakesh's labyrinthine medina (old city) district is the town's star attraction. The narrow alleyways are a kaleidoscope of colors, scents, and sounds and are bound to be the sightseeing highlight of your trip.
2. Djemaa El Fna
This large square at the entry to the medina is the center of Marrakesh life. The Djemaa El Fna (assembly place of the nobodies) is a vibrant hub of bric-a-brac stalls, musicians, storytellers, fortune-tellers, and snake charmers that never seems to rest. Here, the entire spectrum of Moroccan life enfolds before you.
3. Koutoubia Mosque
The Koutoubia Mosque is Marrakesh's most famous landmark with its striking, 70-meter-tall minaret visible for miles in every direction. Local Marrakesh legend tells that when first built, the muezzin (man who calls the faithful to pray) for this mosque had to be blind, as the minaret was so tall, it overlooked the ruler's harem.
4. Medersa Ben Youssef
Built in 1565 by the Saadians, the Medersa (madrassa - Islamic school of learning) of Ben Youssef is the largest theological college in Morocco. The warrens of rooms (with student cells that once were home to 900 pupils) are clustered around small internal courtyards in typical Islamic architecture style, but the main internal courtyard is the real highlight here.
5. Saadian Tombs
This 16th-century burial ground is home to 66 members of the Saadian dynasty, which ruled over Marrakesh between 1524 and 1668. The tombs here include that of the ruler Al-Mansour, his successors, and their closest family members. It's a rambling, atmospheric place, with the mausoleums set amid a rather overgrown garden.
6. Bahia Palace
This magnificent peacock of a palace was built in the late 19th century as the residence of the Grand Vizier Bou Ahmed, who served Sultan Moulay al-Hassan I. The interior decoration is a dazzling display of zellige tiles, painted ceilings, and ornate wrought-iron features showcasing the opulent lives of those high up in the sultan's favor at that time.
7. Dar Si Said Museum of Moroccan Arts and Crafts
This lovely old palace built by Vizier Si Said is home to a wonderful collection of Berber jewelry in finely worked silver, oil lamps from Taroudant, pottery artifacts, embroidered leather, and marble. There is also a display of Moroccan carpets and an amazing collection of traditional Moroccan door and window frames, which highlight this country's local architecture styles.
8. Marrakesh Museum
The Marrakesh Museum has an eclectic collection ranging from contemporary art to Qur'anic inscriptions, with local ceramic work, textiles, and coins thrown in for good measure. For most visitors, the real highlight of a visit here is the building in which the museum is housed.
