The EUR/USD staged a little bit of a recovery while our US friends were on holiday. There were some reports from Bloomberg suggesting that some ECB members were getting a little edgy with the trajectory of rate hikes.

They felt that a hike in late 2019 was far too late. And they also didn’t like the fact that the market wasn’t remotely interesting in pricing in a rate hike.

Yesterday the odds of a hike in September 2019, were around 69%. Those odds jumped a little bit to 80% on the back of the headlines.

Mario Draghi certainly doesn’t appear to be on of those ECB members who are interested in raising rates. He doesn’t even want to stop QE. Or so it appears.

As expected the MA20 period (1.1659 - 1.16667) was reclaimed and H/1 reached a new 1.1711 High on a Three Outside Up bullish candle and on high volatility (ATR: 0.0013) is naturally consolidating. Both H/5 and D/1 are now predominantly bullish with D/1 only holding back on a neutral RSI: 51.025. Breaking above 1.1730 today should override this. I still expect D/1 to break 1.1733 and 1.1775 (EMA50) in succession. The Fed Minutes and Nonfarm payrolls have the potential to even catapult it to a June 14: 1.1853 Gap Fill, by Monday.

Today, USD strengthens against JPY and weakens against EUR and GBP.
On Friday the investors will focus on June US employment market data and the official start of the US-China trade war. Reciprocal duties on goods produced in the US and China will be implied for a total of $68 billion (for both countries). President Trump’s Administration is negotiating with EU countries. According to German publications, the American ambassador in Germany claimed the possibility not to imply a 20% duty on European cars, if the EU cancels the corresponding duties on American cars imported to the EU countries.
June employment market data are expected to be worse than in May. The unemployment rate will grow from 2.7% to 2.8%, and Nonfarm Payrolls can fall from 223K to 195K. Thursday’s ADP Employment Change statistic was poor and decreased from 189K to 177K in June.

Double Top situation on H/5 at 1.1720 with the price already rejected on the second straight bearish candle. H/5 however remains bullish and this rejection was probably profit taking before the FOMC. With the report delivering the expected message, this candle can be used as an additional long entry (1.1666 limit) on the way for D/1 to break 1.1733 and by tomorrow its EMA50: 1.1775. Keep in mind that the true stimulant are Friday's Nonfarm Payrolls and Employment change.

Current trend
Today, US trade duties on goods produced in China came into effect, totaling USD 34 billion. According to experts, the impact of tariffs on the Chinese economy will be noticeable in 3-6 months and may lead to a 0.2% decrease in its growth. Now investors are waiting for the official reaction of the Chinese authorities, in particular, the press conference of the Premier of the State Council of the PRC, Li Keqiang. Beijing's response may be symmetric, but the US administration warned that if the conflict escalated, it could introduce additional duties on Chinese goods totaling USD 500 billion.
In the evening, investors expect the publication of data on Nonfarm payrolls in the US. The indicator can decline from 223K to 195K. Thursday's statistics on ADP Employment Change also proved to be weak: in June the indicator dropped from 189K to 177K.

The pair EUR/USD grew to 1.1688 due to mixed statistics from the US, published on Thursday.

Initial jobless claims grew to 231K from 228K previous week. Markit Services PMI remained unchanged at the level of 56.5 points. ADP Employment Change declined to 177K in June against 189K a month earlier (with a forecast of 190K). ISM Non-Manufacturing PMI grew to 59.1 points in June from 58.6 points a month earlier. Released FOMC minutes demonstrated that the Fed intends to head for a gradual rate increase as it is generally satisfied with the growth rates of the economy. At the same time, the minutes showed that some Fed's experts are concerned about high inflation rates and believe that the US economy is now working above its real potential. In their opinion, such a trend may lead to a serious economic downturn in the long term.

In the afternoon, statistics on the labor market in the US will be published.

A slightly higher Top today at 1.1726, broke through the H/5 Double Top and is on sustainable RSI; 61.369, ADX: 39.305 bullish figures. As expected yesterday's rejection to 1.1675 (1.1666 was my projected limit) was profit taking and a Higher Low on the Channel Up (Highs/Lows: 0.0016, BBP: 0.0061) so I will now be looking for a Higher High after the Nonfarm Payrolls and Employment change near 1.1775 (EMA50 and TP). The channel's potential is big and extends at least as high as the June 14: 1.1853 Gap Fill on D/1.

The EUR/USD is pushing higher and is currently testing the 1.1700 level. I’m bearish on a longer-term basis, but that is certainly not to say that we can’t break out here on Friday.

HI M8S . i m going to analyze this pair as clear as i can fundamently and technically . well:respect: :
Fundamentally:

Trade war began. Dollar passed the week under the bearish pressure caused by the trade war worries. USD hit by soft unemployment data and wages growth figures under the expectations on the last day of the week.

On the euro side, less hawkish but far from dovish minutes were the catalyst for the bullish move. Reports indicating that “ECB’s policymakers believe that rising rates by the end of 2019 would be too late” was another catalyst.

This week we will have the inflation figures both from eurozone and U.S. But I believe that the trade war will be the most determining factor of this week.

Technically:

EUR/USD tested 1.17700 EMA 50 in the daily chart and ended the week at 1.17420. This is the Fibonacci 23.6 % retracement of the latest decline started in April. We can easily say that the medium term trend is bearish and the pair will be under selling pressure as long as it holds below 1.18500.

In the H4 chart time frame, the price is above EMA 50,100 and 200. And we see a bullish crossover of EMA 50 and EMA 100 with bullish RSI value.

We see a Bearish Gartley Harmonic Pattern as seen in the below chart. As the price dropped below Fib 78.6 % of AB but did not close below, we can say this is a valid Gartley . The area of entry is between 1.17780 – Fib 1.27 of BC 0.96% – and 1.18400 Fib 1.618 of BC 0.96% . Although 1.17780 is confirmed by the MM +2/8 extremely overshoot, considering the C dropped below the perfect ratios, I predict the major retracement will take place near 1.18400.

Looking to Sell EUR/USD After the Bounce off the 100 SMA Fades

EUR/USD extended the decline in the European session. But, it reached a certain level where the sellers decided to call it a day and close their trades. That level was 1.1690, which doesn’t really hold much importance by itself.

But, the 100 SMA (red) is standing right there and this moving average has provided support before. It appears that the sellers saw the chart history and decided to close their trades, for now. The previous hourly candlestick closed as a doji which is a reversing signal. So, that indicator also played a role in the latest turnaround.

EUR/USD is around 30 pips higher, but I don’t see this as a bullish move. Looking at the daily chart below, you can see that yesterday the price formed an upside down hammer. That is a reversing signal after an uptrend.

Today’s candlestick looks pretty bearish as well, which reinforces the bearish turnaround in this pair. Besides, the stochastic indicator is overbought and turning down now, so the bullish move is complete and EUR/USD is now entering a bearish phase.

With this chart setup in mind, I will wait for the latest bounce to be over on the H1 chart and then will look to open a sell trade. Perhaps, the 50 SMA would be a great place to sell, but only if the buyers manage to push that far.

The euro found strong support in the 11500s and has since seen a bit of a rebound, but momentum and the broader trend aren’t bringing to the table with it much conviction. The pair continued rallying downwards after clearing the psychological level of 1.2500 earlier as seen on the provided daily chart. MACD traditional shows a very negative sign since its lines has overlapped bearishly below the histogram. As a consequence, the bearishness remains in favor for the rest of the day and a break below 1.2380 will ease the path towards 1.2255.

USD takes A Hit After the Inflation Report

The core inflation number came as expected at 0.2% month on month. The yearly numbers ticked higher; the headline ticked higher to 2.9% from 2.8% previously and the core yearly figure also ticked higher to 2.3%, up from 2.2% previously.

That’s not a good sign when the unemployment keeps falling and it is way below the natural unemployment rate which should be at around 5%. Hence, the US Dollar has lost some ground but this could also be a good opportunity to buy it, probably sell EUR/USD.
