How long we can have a position open?

well leaving aposition open depends on two things one, if your stop loss has not been hit then you are as good as still in the trade and secondly if you still see some hope of market coming back to move in your favour then i will suggest you still stay in the market for as long as you still see the hope and then you should make sure you are not changing your stop loss because you still want the trade to win.

you can leave your order open as long as possible,
This depends on individual trading styles, typically holding positions could swingers more than a week, even a month
but for me, I never holding a position of more than 2 days

If your account is swap free and market is in your favor then you can keep your trades open as much as the contract is available, because if you are trading in forex then its ok, but if you are trading in futures / CFD then there is some limitations every trader should know.

You can open your trade as long as you have enough balance to suffer from so much floating minus, thats why we need to prepare proper money management and prepare some trading plan, long term trader always open their trades for a long time

Well, my accounts are swap free and I leave my trades open for more than two months or three, depends upon the market and situation, sometimes my trades keep open for more than three months, so it is normal.

Yes definitely if we have done the long term analysis then we can keep our trades open for long time or untill it is in profit.I am a short term trader,so I never keep my trades open more than few hours.It is very hard to predict such a long term market movement like an year,so I think we must trade with caution if we want to trade for long term.

currency pair me koye limit nai hoti hum apni marzi sey lot ko jitna dayer marzi open rakh sakty hai broker tab close kary ja free margin end ho jae ga. crude oil me broker hr month kay bad lot close kar deta hai i think hume wo pair choose karna chahye jis me monthly closing na ho.

we can open our trade as long as we have money in our bank and a margin call don't appear. margin call is the demand of more money in case the market is going against you and you are loosing money and left with nothing to trade . so it is not wise to trade very long , scalping or opening the position for one day or half day is suitbale for long way trading
