Moving Averages (MA) is a moving average of the closing price within a given period. In MA we can see the price trend is happening. When MA moving up means a trend is rising and vice versa. If the price breaks MA mean trend is changing.
The shorter the period of time spent in the faster MA gives an indication of changes in trend but becoming more frequent incorrect predictions (false signals).


The longer the period of time spent in the slower MA gives an indication of changes in trend but it can reduce the prediction error. Therefore often used over a period MA. Short length of the period is used depends on the purpose of long-or short-term investment.


Moving Averages There are several kinds, one of which is Simple Moving Averages (SMA) and Exponential
Moving Averages (EMA). The basic principles of both are the same just different calculation only.
The best way to use Moving Averages is to use more than one period MA in the chart so that they can see the movement of short-term and long-term. Use MA 5, MA 20, MA 60. When the two intersect each period MA is a trend change signal as an indication to buy or sell. For long-term investments MA is very often used as a determinant of the trend.
