Trend Finder, Trading Signal Tracking System In The Beginning of Trend
The trend strategy following (following the trend) is one of the favorite techniques that many favored. Nevertheless, many traders experience constraints when they want entry at the beginning of the trend, because they have not found the most appropriate method to detect changes in price direction accurately. Well, Trend Finder trading system presents the solution to help traders recognize and maximize opportunities at the beginning of the trend.
Working on H4 time frame, this system is suitable for forex pair with stable volatility and minimal spikes. To meet these requirements, you should choose the major pair with high liquidity such as EUR / USD and GBP / USD.
Technical Indicators Involved
There are 3 technical indicators used in this system, namely Awesome Oscillator, Advanced ADX, and Stochastic Histogram with default parameters.
Interestingly, all of these indicators appear as histograms and perform different roles. If described, the following functions of each indicator are included in the trading system Trend Finder:
- Awesome Oscillator: Shows the direction of the main movement (long-term trend)
- Advanced ADX: Determine trend strength and confirm price direction (medium term trend)
- Stochastic Histogram: Shows the moment of trend direction change (short term trend)
Unlike general usage of histogram indicators in general, the analysis applied in the Trend Finder trading system does not pay attention to the movement of bars from negative zone to positive or vice versa. The more used here is the bar color of each indicator.
How to Put an Indicator
Awesome Oscillator is one indicator of Bill Williams that usually has become the default in MetaTrader 4. To display it, you just need to open the Insert menu -> Indicators -> Bill Williams -> Awesome Oscillator.
In the meantime, ADX Advanced indicators and Stochastic Histogram require manual installation because it is not available in the MetaTrader 4 built-in indicator list. Advanced ADX can be found here, while Stochastic Histogram can be downloaded on this page.
To install both these indicators in MetaTrader 4, please follow these steps:
1. Open MetaTrader 4
2. Click File menu, then open Open Data Folder
3. Locate the folder where you saved the ADX Advanced Download and Stochastic Histogram download files
4. Copy both indicators.
5. Return to the MetaQuotes terminal, or the place you first redirected after the Open Data Folder
6. Open the MQL4 folder -> Indicators
7. Paste the Advanced ADX and Stochastic Histogram indicators
8. Close MetaQuotes terminal as well as MetaTrader 4 application
9. Reopen MetaTrader 4.
Look in the Navigator section, then drag & drop StochHistogram as well as advanced_adx.
In addition, you can enter level 15 in Advanced ADX by right-clicking on the indicator sub-window and selecting Advanced ADX properties. On the Levels tab, click Add and enter the number 15, then select OK.
If the placement of indicators for the Trend Finder system works, your chart will look like this:

Open trade at the opening level of the candle after the signal emerges. A close signal can be taken when there are (at least) 2 indicators showing a green bar.
Recommendations Stop Loss And Take Profit
If you want to apply an auto close with stop loss and take profit settings, there is a recommendation to install SL at a distance of 50-100 pips from the entry level. As for TP, you can adjust it with ideal risk / reward ratio if it has its own standard, or follow the recommended distance (between 70 -100 pips) from the open point.
